What is the religious ruling on reading Surat Al-Kahf before Friday prayer in the mosque, and is it considered an innovation (bid'ah)?

Reciting the Qur’an with loudspeakers in the mosque before Friday prayer and before the Imam comes out is not from the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) nor his Companions. Rather, they used to offer voluntary prayers. The Hadith of the Prophet (peace be upon him) indicates the virtue of one who prays and listens attentively to the sermon. Sheikh Ibn Baz and the Permanent Committee issued a fatwa stating that this action is impermissible because it is an innovation (muhdath) and may distract worshipers and readers.
