Is it obligatory not to stop at the "no stopping allowed" signs in all cases, even if they appear at the end of a verse? And is stopping at the end of every verse a Sunnah? And does not stopping when there is a "no stopping allowed" sign distort the meaning? And if it is possible to stop, how is that done when there is a "no stopping allowed" sign?

Knowledge of waqf (stopping) and ibtida’ (starting) is important for the reciter of the Qur’an, and it is part of the tartīl (measured recitation) commanded in His (the Most High’s) saying: "And recite the Qur’an with measured recitation."

Regarding its types: 1. Stopping at the end of verses (ru’ūs al-āyāt): This is an absolute Sunnah, even if what follows is linguistically connected to what precedes it, in imitation of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. 2. Stopping not at the end of verses: The Complete (al-Tāmm): This is when the meaning is complete and there is no linguistic or semantic connection to what follows. One should stop here and start with what follows. The Sufficient (al-Kāfī): This is when the meaning is complete, and there is a semantic connection to what follows but no linguistic connection. One should stop here and start with what follows. The Good (al-Ḥasan): This is when the meaning is complete, but there is a linguistic connection to what follows. One should stop here, but one should not start with what follows unless it is the end of a verse. The Abominable (al-Qabīḥ): This is when the meaning is not complete, and it is not permissible to intentionally stop here except out of necessity, such as shortness of breath, because it corrupts the meaning.

The point is that stopping in the Qur’an is not obligatory or forbidden unless it leads to a corruption of the meaning.
