What is the ruling on a pilgrim in a state of ihram using an umbrella?

Carrying an umbrella to protect oneself from the heat of the sun is permissible and does not fall under the prohibition of covering the head, because it is for shading. It has been authentically reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, shaded himself with a garment while he was in a state of ihram, before he exited from it.
