How do we reconcile the word "presumption" (الظن) in His —Exalted is He— saying concerning the believers: (those who presume that they will meet their Lord), with His —Exalted is He— saying: (Indeed, presumption avails not against the truth at all)?

The word "yadhunoon" (think/assume) in verse 46 of Surat al-Baqarah: "Those who are certain that they will meet their Lord," means certainty, not doubt. This usage is well-known in the Arabic language, and from it is the Almighty's saying: "Indeed, I was certain that I would meet my accounting." As for the "dhann" (conjecture/assumption) mentioned in His Almighty's saying: "They follow nothing but conjecture," what is meant is the blameworthy conjecture that contradicts the truth.
