What are the proofs that Islam is the true religion? And how can a person be reassured that they are upon the truth? And why did Allah allow Muslims to differ among themselves? And will a person who strived to search for the true religion and erred be punished, or one who heard about Islam and had doubts for which they found no answer and died upon that state?

We have previously explained the proofs of the truth of Islam. As for one whom the prophetic message has not reached, or who has not known the truth of Islam, and who is keen to know the truth, their disbelief is a disbelief of ignorance, and they will be tested in the Hereafter. However, whoever hears about Islam and turns away from it, their disbelief is a disbelief of turning away, and they deserve punishment. The question "Why did Allah leave Muslims to differ?" is not valid, for Allah sent down His religion and sent His Messenger with the truth, commanded adherence, and promised guidance and victory. As for differences in understanding among Muslims, they are permissible if they do not contradict a text or a consensus, unlike differences based on whims or weak evidence.
