Is there a difference between the Witr prayer and the Night prayer?

Witr prayer is part of the night prayer, and it is a Sunnah that concludes the night prayer. However, it differs from the night prayer in some aspects. The Sunnah differentiated between them in word and deed, as the night prayer is performed "two rak'ahs at a time," whereas Witr can be a single rak'ah if the worshipper fears the dawn. Moreover, scholars distinguished between them in ruling and manner. Some held Witr to be obligatory, unlike the night prayer, which scholars agreed is recommended. They also differed in the manner: the night prayer is performed "two rak'ahs at a time," while Witr can be five, seven, or nine rak'ahs with specific procedures.
