Obedience to parents is obligatory within what is recognized as good. However, a child is not obligated to obey their parents concerning marriage to someone they do not desire, and they are not considered disobedient for this. Therefore, the child should try to convince their parents of their wish to marry the person they desire. If the parents do not agree, the child is permitted to marry whom they wish, and they should then strive to earn their parents' رضا.
