The answer

A menstruating woman and a woman in post-natal bleeding () must break their fast. Also, anyone who needs to break their fast to save an innocent person from perishing must do so. It is (recommended) for a traveler who is allowed to shorten prayers (qasr) to break their fast, and for a sick person who fears harm. A sick person must break their fast if they are certain of perishing or suffering severe harm. It is permissible for a pregnant woman and a breastfeeding woman to break their fast if they fear for themselves or for the child. As for those who are not legally responsible (mukallaf), such as a child and an insane person, fasting is not obligatory for them. Fasting is valid from a child, but not from an insane person.
