Does the collective recitation of the Quran or the performance of night prayers (Qiyam al-Layl) for relief during calamities contradict the principle of relying solely on supplication (Du'a), along with a request for an explanation of the reason and the Shar'i (Islamic legal) evidence?

Diligence in acts of obedience is a cause for the alleviation of distress, for Allah the Almighty says: (And seek help through patience and prayer. And indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive [to Allah]), and when the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was troubled by a matter, he would pray. Examples include the prayer for rain (Salat al-Istisqa') and the prayer during an eclipse (Salat al-Kusuf), and his saying, peace and blessings be upon him: "Cure your sick with charity." Piety towards Allah is a cause for the facilitation of matters, as in His saying, the Most High: (And whoever fears Allah – He will make for him a way out) and (And whoever fears Allah – He will make for him ease in his affair). Generally, righteous deeds are good and there is no harm in them.
