Is it possible for a human being to ascend to higher ranks in Paradise over time, even if their deeds in this world did not reach the levels of the prophets, the truthful, and the martyrs?

We have not found anything indicating an elevation in the ranks of believers over time. However, it is established that whoever dies upon faith, and whose offspring and family are also people of faith, Allah will gather them with him in Paradise and elevate the lower ranks among them to the higher ranks. As Allah Almighty says: {And those who believed and whose offspring followed them in faith – We will join with them their offspring} [Al-Tur: 21]. Ibn Kathir said: He raises the rank of the lower to the rank of the higher, as a grace and favor from Allah.

It is also established that there is intercession for elevating the ranks of the people of Paradise, which is one of the six types of intercession mentioned by Ibn al-Qayyim.
