If the pleasure in seeking knowledge and purchasing books stems from rejoicing in Allah's bounty and delighting in His grace, and hoping for His reward, then this is a good matter. However, if it is due to satisfying a craving for reading and a love of possession, then this is a worldly desire, and it may deviate the action from the bounds of sincerity if it accompanies the intention of drawing closer to Allah. It is advisable to maintain constant vigilance and monitor one's intention to purify it from impurities, and to continue seeking knowledge while striving against one's self to correct the intention. Many scholars began seeking knowledge for its pleasure, and then Allah rectified their intentions.
