Is it permissible for a girl to marry without informing her family for a full year, knowing that informing them would result in her allowance being cut off?

The sinfulness of a guardian does not nullify his guardianship; therefore, marriage without his permission is not valid.

If the guardian prevents the marriage to a suitable and religiously and morally approved suitor, the woman may refer her case to the ruler (wali al-amr) to have him arrange her marriage.

The parents' lack of permission due to fear of cutting off study expenses is not a justification for concealing the matter or for completing the marriage without the guardian's permission.

The wife's maintenance is the responsibility of her husband, but he is not obligated to cover study expenses.

It should be considered whether the studies are permissible. If they are, then it is permissible to continue them with financial contributions from the husband, family, or institutions. If they are impermissible, such as co-educational studies, then it is not permissible to continue them.
