What is the ruling on a guardian refusing to marry off an orphaned minor under his care due to her insistence on completing her university education in philosophy, despite him providing for all her needs, and his fears of temptations, mixing (of genders) at the university, and the long distance?

The girl should praise Allah for facilitating her marriage and should promptly proceed with it, in compliance with the Prophet's (PBUH) saying: "O young people, whoever among you can afford to marry, let him do so..." Study does not contradict marriage, and both can be combined, even by studying through distance learning. Sheikhs Ibn Baz and Ibn Uthaymeen emphasized the obligation for young men and women to promptly marry if a suitable spouse is available. Marriage does not prevent studying, and it offers many benefits, while delaying it may harm both the young man and woman. Ibn Uthaymeen indicated that refraining from marriage for the sake of completing studies contradicts the command of the Prophet (PBUH), and that a woman can stipulate to her husband that she completes her studies or teaches, and that completing only primary education may be sufficient unless there is a need for essential sciences like medicine.
