What is the ruling on a husband raising his voice at his wife?

The husband is commanded to treat his wife kindly, as Allah Almighty says: "And live with them in kindness." Raising one's voice at her contradicts this. This behavior often occurs during anger, so it is recommended to avoid its causes. If anger does occur, its negative consequences must be avoided. The wife should act wisely when her husband is angry and keep away from him until he calms down, and the husband should do the same if the wife becomes angry.
