What is the ruling on selling video games, and what should I do with the money I earned from them if it is impermissible for me to do so and I have already spent it all?

The PlayStation device itself is neither blameworthy nor praiseworthy. Rather, the ruling pertains to the game cartridges that contain what is unlawful according to Sharia, such as those with forbidden images or reprehensible actions. It is not permissible to sell these, and the money obtained from their sale is unlawful wealth that should be spent on the general welfare of Muslims. As for one who repents from selling them and does not possess such money, repentance and the firm resolve not to return to such acts are sufficient for him.
