Is Sufism considered one of the seventy-two sects that will enter Hellfire, or not?
Al-Tirmidhi narrated from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that his Ummah would follow what happened to the Children of Israel, and that his Ummah would split into seventy-three sects, all of them in the Fire except one sect, which is "what I and my Companions are upon." The Sufis, given the current state of many of them, are not upon what the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and his Companions were upon. Their paths have branched out; some of them lead out of Islam, and others are less severe. The criterion is conformity to the guidance of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and the guidance of his Companions, in word and deed. There are some among the early and later Sufis who indeed followed the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and avoided innovations.
