How can the fatwa warning against frequent intercourse and its negative impact on health be reconciled with the fact that the Sharia permitted a husband to have intercourse with his wife without restrictions? And does the dissemination of such fatwas not conflict with the objectives of the Sharia in encouraging marriage and chastity?

What was mentioned in the fatwa (definition) from the words of medical professionals, which Ibn Muflih and Ibn al-Qayyim cited and transmitted from Al-Shafi'i and ancient physicians, and which experience confirms, is that everything that exceeds its limit turns into its opposite. Abundance and scarcity are relative matters. For someone who has strength and vitality, frequent intercourse is permissible; indeed, it is even recommended for them. However, for someone who does not possess such strength, frequent emission of semen will exhaust and weaken them, so they should not exert themselves in this way. The principle of permissibility does not negate the existence of harm in certain circumstances that fall within the scope of extravagance. Allah Almighty says: "and do not be extravagant," and "and do not throw [yourselves] with your [own] hands into destruction," and "and do not kill yourselves." And the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "There shall be no harm or reciprocating harm."
