It is permissible to perform artificial insemination (IVF) if natural conception is difficult, provided that the sperm and egg are from the spouses, and the embryo is implanted in the wife's own uterus, while observing regulations such as covering the 'awrah (private parts). As for the idea of an artificial uterus for fetal growth, it is a subject of disagreement among contemporary jurists. The preponderant opinion is that it is forbidden, as it contradicts natural human disposition and there is a possibility of harm to the fetus, and because the feasibility of its safe application to humans has not been proven. It must also be emphasized that human surrogacy is forbidden.
