What is to be done when a sister wakes up terrified and crying because she dreamt that someone was slaughtering her or one of her family members, despite her reciting the protective recitations before sleep, and what is to be done when the questioner sees dead people in his dreams?

A dream is of three types: one is terrors from Satan to grieve the son of Adam, another is what a person thinks about while awake and then sees in their sleep, and the third is one part of forty-six parts of prophethood. Disturbing dreams are from Satan, and his cunning is weak; he has no authority over the believers who rely on their Lord. His authority is only over those who befriend him. To remedy this, one must adhere to Allah's command by repenting and striving in obedience. Then, follow the Prophetic guidance: upon seeing something disliked, one should spit to their left three times, seek refuge in Allah from Satan and the evil of the dream, and not tell anyone about it, for it will not harm them. We also recommend diligently and with certainty observing the remembrances before sleep.
