Which verses coincided with 'Umar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb's statements upon their revelation, and which are the Prophetic traditions in which the Prophet (peace be upon him) singled out 'Umar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb, as well as some of the Companions?

Al-Suyuti in "Tarikh al-Khulafa" and Al-Haythami in "Majma' al-Zawa'id" mentioned many prophetic hadiths and sayings of the Companions regarding the virtues of Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him. Some of them cited more than twenty instances where divine revelation concurred with Umar's words, including: taking the Station of Ibrahim as a place of prayer, the verse of the Hijab (definition) (veil), the prohibition of intoxicants, the story of the prisoners of Badr, his saying regarding Allah's words: "And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay," whereupon the verse "So blessed is Allah, the best of creators" was revealed; the story of Abdullah ibn Ubayy, seeking forgiveness for the hypocrites, consultation during the Battle of Badr, the story of the Ifk (slander), permitting sexual intercourse with women at night during Ramadan (definition), the revelation of "Say, 'Whoever is an enemy to Jibreel—'", the revelation of "But no, by your Lord, they will not [truly] believe until they make you, [O Muhammad], judge concerning that over which they dispute among themselves", seeking permission to enter, his statement about the Jews being a people of falsehood, the revelation of "A large company from the first generations, and few from the later generations," or "A large company from the first generations, and a large company from the later generations," the removal of the recitation of the verse of stoning, and his stance on the Day of Uhud with Abu Sufyan.

There are also hadiths that describe his knowledge and jurisprudence, such as the Prophet's (peace be upon him) dream of being given milk, which was interpreted as knowledge. The Prophet (peace be upon him) supplicated for him that Allah would remove any malice from his heart and replace it with faith. Other hadiths confirm that truth is on his tongue and in his heart, and that tranquility speaks through his tongue.
