The answer

Attending a funeral, praying over the deceased, and participating in the burial carry immense reward, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever attends a funeral until the prayer is offered for it, will have a qirat. And whoever attends it until it is buried, will have two qirats." This applies to someone who does not have an obligatory duty they are committed to. However, teaching students is an individual obligation upon you, and it is not permissible to neglect it. Seeking knowledge is better than following a funeral. Scholars have differed on which is better: following funerals or performing supererogatory prayers and sitting in the mosque.
