What is the ruling of the Shari'a on a son who refuses to give his mother her legal share of the inheritance, claiming fear of the money being lost or her disposing of it, and who rejects the suggestion of depositing her share in the bank, and claims that he previously performed Hajj on her behalf, and allows his wife to evict his mother from her home, and does not inquire about her, claiming her old age, and what is the ruling on the son who undertakes her care?

The son's silence about his wife expelling his mother from her home is an act of disobedience (uquq), and the children's failure to inquire about their mother is also an act of disobedience. Everyone must repent. The mother's right is immense, and her right increases in old age. If the mother is unable to manage her own finances, she should be interdicted for her own benefit, and the competent authority should manage her money. The son must give his mother her due rights, and he is not entitled to demand repayment for what he previously spent on her if it was an obligatory expenditure or charity. We advise referring the matter to the Sharia court to consider the case. May Allah reward the son who takes care of her.
