It is not permissible to copy discs without the owners' permission, as this infringes upon their rights. Consequently, it is not permissible to purchase copied discs knowingly. However, if it is unknown whether a disc is copied, there is no objection to purchasing it. Some scholars permit copying for the purpose of da'wah (inviting to Islam) and education, but not for commercial purposes. As for discs that require an oath for installation, it is not permissible to take the oath unless the user is certain that the disc is original, because an oath is based on certainty.
