The father does not have the right to demand a divorce from the husband merely because of a delay in completing the marriage, nor is the husband obliged to divorce his wife for this reason. The wise should intervene to persuade the father to agree to complete the marriage at the earliest opportunity. If the father insists on refusing, there is no harm in resorting to the court, and there is no sin upon the wife for going to her marital home with her husband without her father's consent; because obedience to parents is in what is right, and this is not part of it. Later, an attempt should be made to gain the father's satisfaction.
