Is burning a small Qur’an placed as a decoration in a car, for fear of its desecration, considered a sin?

The Salaf disliked writing the Qur’an in small script and on tiny paper, because that contradicts the veneration of the Qur’an, which should be written in the best and clearest script, and on large and beautiful paper.

Therefore, disposing of a Mus'haf written in this manner is a religious requirement. This can be done by burying it in a clean place, or by washing it with water and pouring the water into a clean place, or by burning it if the first two methods are not possible.
