What is the ruling on breaking one's fast during Ramadan due to an erroneous adhan on television?

If someone breaks their fast in Ramadan (definition), thinking the sun has set, and then it becomes clear that their assumption was wrong, there is no expiation (kaffarah (definition)) due on them. However, there is a difference of opinion regarding the obligation of making up that day (qadaa'): The majority of scholars hold that making up the day is obligatory, basing their argument on the fact that the fasting person is required to be certain, and Allah commanded that the fast be completed until nightfall. Another group of scholars holds that their fast is valid, citing the Hadith (definition) of Asma bint Abi Bakr, which states that they broke their fast on a cloudy day and then the sun appeared, but they were not commanded to make up the day. Nevertheless, making up the day is more cautious.
