Is it permissible for some colleagues to say to others: "So-and-so is the scribe of revelation for so-and-so"?

A Muslim saying about someone, "This is so-and-so, the scribe of revelation for so-and-so," carries a grave danger. If the speaker intends thereby that what that person dictates is a revelation from Allah, likening him to a Prophet and his companion to a Companion (of the Prophet), then it is disbelief (kufr) and apostasy from the religion of Islam. If he says it in jest or play, the least of its states is prohibition (tahreem) due to its mockery of revelation, prophethood, and the Companions. It may even reach the level of disbelief, according to the Almighty's saying: (Was it at Allah and His verses and His Messenger that you were mocking? Make no excuse; you have disbelieved after your belief). Sheikh Ibn 'Uthaymeen warned against trifling with the aspect of Lordship (Rububiyyah), prophethood (Risalah), revelation (Wahy), and religion (Deen). Whoever does so mockingly is a disbeliever. A Muslim must be cautious of joking about any religious matter, for in the Hadith, "Indeed, a servant may utter a word that incurs Allah's displeasure, without giving it much thought, and he will fall into Hellfire because of it."
