How should I act regarding two young men who proposed to me, one of whom reopened the subject and the other did not, but my heart is attached to him and I pray to God to unite me with him? Should I wait for him despite the absence of any signs? And how do I perform Istikhara between them to know which of them is better for me and relieve my confusion? Is it permissible to name them in Istikhara? And what is the recommended supplication in this case?

Istikhara should be performed when one is contemplating a matter and before making a firm decision about it, such as when a suitor proposes, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If any of you is concerned about a matter..." If it is highly probable that the suitor has withdrawn, then Istikhara for him is not prescribed. There is no harm in supplicating for your marriage to the one you desire to be facilitated, even if he has withdrawn, while seeking a person of good character and religious commitment. One should entrust the matter to Allah Almighty, for He knows best the outcomes of affairs, and avoid anxiety and regret, for Allah Almighty said: "But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not." It is also permissible for a woman to offer herself to suitors while adhering to Islamic etiquette.
