What is the significance of the repetition of the word "day" 365 times and "moon" 12 times in the Qur’an? Does the discrepancy between the Hijri calendar and the mentioned number of days mean that the Islamic calendar is inaccurate, or is it a divine sign indicating the correctness of the Gregorian calendar?

Many people have become obsessed with the numerical miraculousness of the Quran, believing it to be part of the Quran's inimitability, without distinguishing between a "subtlety" and a "miracle" (I'jaz) that stumped the eloquent and rhetorical Arabs. These numbers have led to predictions of the demise of the state of Israel and the Day of Judgment, as well as interpretations of the New York tower bombings. All of this is futile and ignorant of the true miraculousness of Allah's Book.

Upon scrutinizing the statistics of those who published these numbers, it was found that they erred in their counts of certain words, and selectivity was observed in some of them. Dr. Ashraf Abdul Razzaq Qatana concluded in a critical study that the idea of numerical miraculousness is entirely incorrect, and that books presenting this idea rely on guiding and selective conditions to prove a predetermined viewpoint. This has sometimes led to deviations from what is established by the consensus of the Ummah, such as contradicting the Uthmani script of the Qurans and the principles of the Arabic language. An example of this is Dr. Abdul Razzaq Nawfal's claim that the word "day" (يوم) appeared 365 times in the Quran. To prove this, he combined the words "Al-Yawm" (اليوم) and "Yawman" (يومًا) but omitted "Yawmakum" (يومكم), "Yawmahum" (يومهم), and "Yawma'idhin" (يومئذ), because if he had included them, the calculation would have been different.

The reckoning mentioned by Allah Almighty in His Noble Book is the precise reckoning that does not vary over the years, and it is the lunar reckoning, not the solar. The three hundred and nine years mentioned in Surat Al-Kahf are according to the lunar reckoning, for the count of months and years with Allah Almighty is by the crescent moons. The lunar reckoning was the one considered valid by the prophets, peace be upon them, and it is the most accurate and precise, and by it were the months of Hajj, fasting, and Eid.
