What is the ruling on the night of mid-Sha'ban, and what supplications and prayers are legislated therein?

Sound and good (hasan) hadiths have been reported regarding the virtue of the middle of Sha'ban night, among them: that Allah looks upon His creation in it, forgiving the believers and granting respite to the disbelievers, and leaving the spiteful to their spite, and that He forgives all His creation except for a polytheist or one who harbors malice.

A Muslim should adorn himself with acts of obedience and avoid sins that prevent him from receiving forgiveness, such as polytheism (shirk) and malice.

It has not been authentically reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him) that he singled out this night for a specific prayer or supplication. The first appearance of this was from some of the Tabi'un (followers of the Companions), and scholars have differed concerning the veneration of this night.

Fasting on the middle day of Sha'ban is sunnah if it coincides with the Ayyam al-Beed (the thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth days), not specifically for the middle day itself.
