Is it permissible to dye the hair of the beard, the eyelashes of the right eye, and the hair of the right eyebrow black after I was afflicted with a skin disease that led to their whitening, knowing that my hair did not change and remained black on the right side?

Scholars have differed regarding the ruling on dyeing hair black. Some scholars, including the Hanbalis, Malikis, and Hanafis (with the exception of Abu Yusuf), disliked it except during wartime. Others permitted it absolutely, while some permitted it for men but not for women. As for the Shafi'is, they held it to be forbidden for those not engaged in jihad, citing the hadith: "There will be people at the end of time who will dye their hair black; they will not smell the fragrance of Paradise," and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) command to avoid black dye for Abu Quhafah. Some scholars, as mentioned by Ibn al-Qayyim, restricted the prohibition of dyeing hair black to cases of deception only. The fatwa given is that it is forbidden, but if it is difficult to avoid it and causes hardship, then it is hoped that there may be a concession to alleviate hardship and difficulty, provided one limits it to the extent of the need.
