Is it permissible for a marriage to be conducted by appointing a lawyer to draw up the contract, determine the dowry, and obtain the consent of the wife's guardian, in light of the impossibility of the spouses meeting, and can any deficiency be rectified by completing the marriage conditions later in the presence of a sheikh?

It is permissible to delegate another person to accept your marriage. It suffices for you to say to him: "I have appointed you to accept my marriage to so-and-so," or similar phrasing. The contract is then concluded with the woman's guardian — not the woman herself — in the presence of two witnesses. The guardian says: "I have married so-and-so (the wife) to so-and-so (the husband)," and the husband's agent says: "I have accepted it for so-and-so (the husband)."

Similarly, it is permissible for the woman's guardian to appoint another person to marry his ward to you in your country. In this case, the guardian's agent says to you: "I have married so-and-so to you," and you say: "I have accepted her marriage," in the presence of two witnesses. The contract is then valid.
