Is it permissible for a Muslim jeweler or artisan to manufacture or promote products bearing pagan, polytheistic, or Kitābī drawings or symbols, and what is the extent of the danger in that?

It is not permissible for a Muslim to create drawings or symbols that are pagan or polytheistic, nor to promote goods that bear them. This is because it involves committing and promoting disbelief (kufr), and the one who does so is in great danger. If the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed the image-maker who draws images of living beings because it imitates God's creation and is a means to polytheism, then what about one who creates or depicts that which is polytheism in itself, or promotes it?! Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah mentioned that it is not permissible to make or sell the cross, just like idols. So, whoever receives compensation for a forbidden item, such as the wage of a cross-maker, should give it away in charity and repent from the forbidden act.
