Is the husband obliged to encourage his wife to visit her mother, even though the husband knows that the wife's mother is trying to ruin their marital life?

Maintaining kinship ties is obligatory and is especially emphasized concerning parents. Therefore, the wife must honor her mother. If the mother is not Muslim, she should be invited to Islam. If she is Muslim, she should be advised to separate from her disbelieving husband. The husband should encourage his wife to maintain ties with her mother and help her in doing so. If the couple fears that the mother will corrupt their lives, there is no sin in not visiting her. In such a case, kinship ties can be maintained through phone calls and inquiries.
