Is it permissible to name oneself "Helper of the Sunnah" (Nasir al-Sunnah) or "Lover of the Sunnah" (Muhibb al-Sunnah)?

The appellation "Defender of the Sunnah" or "Lover of the Sunnah" was not known during the era of the Salaf but emerged in later centuries. Scholars differed concerning its ruling. Some scholars considered it forbidden, while the majority viewed it as disliked (makruh), just as some imams, like Imam An-Nawawi and Ibn Taymiyyah, disliked being addressed by it. These titles are considered innovations of later centuries. It is forbidden to bestow these titles upon a disbeliever, an innovator, a transgressor (fasiq), or a dissolute person.
