Are the hadiths, verses and supplications(Dua's) for relieving worries and facilitating matters, and the virtues of surahs such as Ash-Shams, Al-Layl, At-Tin, Al-Hadid, Al-Hashr, and Al-Baqarah, in addition to the supplication of Yunus (Dhu al-Nun), Surat Al-Fatihah, and the description of Salatul Hajah (the Prayer of Need)—authentic and permissible to act upon?

Reading the Quran is one of the greatest acts of proximity to God. The general principle is that it is an act of worship not limited by time, place, or number, except where specified in the Sharia (definition). There is no evidence in the guidance of the Prophet (peace be upon him) that indicates the designation of specific surahs or a specific number of recitations for the purpose of achieving success or relieving distress, except for what has been authentically reported regarding the virtue of Surah (definition) Al-Baqarah, that taking it is a blessing and abandoning it is a regret.

The supplication of Dhul-Nun, "There is no god but You; glory be to You. Indeed, I was of the wrongdoers," has been authentically reported in the Sunnah (definition) that if distress or affliction occurs, one should supplicate with it.

The Greatest Name of Allah, by which if He is asked, He gives, and if He is invoked, He responds, is mentioned in Ayat al-Kursy and the opening of Al Imran.

It is permissible for a Muslim to read from the Quran whatever he wishes and to supplicate with whatever he wishes, without making such specific designations a Sunnah. It is also commendable to seek proximity to Allah Almighty before supplicating with whatever acts of devotion are possible.
