Does a curse take effect if a wife says to her husband while angry, "May Allah curse me if I ask you for anything," and then she proceeds to ask him for things?

It is not permissible for a Muslim to invoke a curse upon themselves or anything else, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "(Do not pray against yourselves except for good)," and his saying: "(Do not pray against yourselves, and do not pray against your children, and do not pray against your possessions. Do not coincide with a moment from Allah in which a request is made for a gift and He responds to you)." Scholars have interpreted Allah's (the Most High) saying: (And if Allah were to hasten to the people the evil [they invoke] as they hasten the good, their term would have been concluded) to mean a person's invocation against themselves and their wealth with what they dislike to be answered. Therefore, the obligation is repentance, seeking forgiveness, and remorse. No expiation for an oath is required in such an invocation.
