What is the ruling on eating from money earned through music, and should the wife treat her family accordingly?

If all of a person's wealth is unlawful (haram), then it is forbidden to eat from it or accept their gift. However, if most of their wealth is unlawful, then it is disliked to eat from their wealth, unless the food itself was purchased with unlawful money, in which case it becomes forbidden. The most cautious approach is to avoid eating from and engaging in financial transactions with someone whose wealth is mostly unlawful, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Every body that is nourished by unlawful means, the Fire is more befitting for it." Perhaps refraining from accepting their gift or invitation will encourage them to repent.
