Al-Zuhri is Muhammad ibn Muslim ibn Ubaydullah ibn Abdullah ibn Shihab al-Zuhri al-Qurashi al-Madani, the great Tabi'i, the Imam of the Muhaddithin (Hadith scholars), and the first to compile Hadith. He was a marvel in memorization, precision, and generosity. As for Sufyan al-Thawri, he is Sufyan ibn Sa'id ibn Masruq, the pious and ascetic Imam. He was among the meticulous memorizers and jurists in religion, and among those who adhered to Hadith and Fiqh, and persevered in piety and worship.
