Is it permissible for a Muslim to fast while working in the preparation of pork in Italy, knowing that he only consumes halal meat and cannot find any other work?

It is not permissible to continue working in a job related to pork. Whoever abandons something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate him with something better. As for one who commits a sin while fasting – not being among the things that invalidate the fast – he may be deprived of the reward. The hardship of work does not permit breaking the fast unless it is an excessive hardship beyond the usual, in which case it is permissible to break the fast to the extent of repelling the necessity, then one should abstain [from eating and drinking] and make up the fast later.
