Is it permissible to perform تحية المسجد (the prayer of greeting the mosque) after the Maghrib call to prayer?

Tahiyyat al-Masjid (the prayer of greeting the mosque) is recommended by the majority of jurists for anyone who enters the mosque at a time when nafila (supererogatory prayers) are permissible. The proof for this is the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "If any of you enters the mosque, he should not sit down until he has prayed two rak'ahs." The Malikis differed regarding prayer between the adhan (call to prayer) of Maghrib and the Maghrib prayer itself. Some of them considered it a time of prohibition, while others permitted it for those who enter the mosque. The authentic hadiths are explicit in permitting Tahiyyat al-Masjid after the Maghrib adhan and before its prayer, including the hadith: "Pray before Maghrib," and "Between every two adhans there is a prayer." The time for Maghrib prayer is not delayed because of these two rak'ahs.
