Will God punish me for not loving my father and for not honoring him and treating him differently from my mother, because he had previously threatened to kill me?
Prayer is the pillar of faith and the second of the pillars of Islam. Abandoning it is a grave sin that can amount to disbelief. Therefore, you must immediately repent to Allah and return to it. As for your hatred of your father due to his actions and his threats to kill you, there is no sin in it, because a person is not held accountable for their heartfelt emotions, as Allah Almighty says: "And there is no blame upon you for that in which you have erred, but [there is blame for] what your hearts intended." Nevertheless, you must be careful not to let this hatred lead you to disobey or harm him, for honoring one's parents is obligatory even if they do wrong, but it is not necessary for the degree of honoring to be the same for the mother and the father. Honoring the father means conveying every possible good and warding off every possible evil from him.
