Does a father's dereliction of his religious duties and his treatment of his family affect his children's feelings towards him, and is a son considered sinful if hatred towards his father is generated in his heart because of these actions?
If a father does not pray, fast, and commits injustice, then the son should: 1- Be dutiful to him and treat him kindly in what is good, while advising him gently, softly, and wisely, and seeking help from those who influence him, for Allah turns hearts. 2- Dislike him in his heart due to the evil and injustice within him, especially according to those who consider the one who abandons prayer a disbeliever, because loving him is forbidden, as Allah Almighty says: "You will not find a people who believe in Allah and the Last Day loving those who oppose Allah and His Messenger, even if they were their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their kindred. Those - He has inscribed within their hearts faith and supported them with a spirit from Him. And He will admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding eternally therein. Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him. Those are the party of Allah. Unquestionably, the party of Allah - they are the successful."
