Must we remove carpets laid on the floor that contain images of animals such as horses, given that they are stepped on and walked over?

The majority of scholars permit the use of images on carpets, rugs, pillows, and other items that are treated with disdain, based on the hadith of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), narrated by Al-Bukhari and others, who said: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from a journey, and I had covered a niche of mine with a curtain that had images on it. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw it, he tore it down and said: 'The people who will receive the severest punishment on the Day of Resurrection are those who imitate Allah's creation.' She said: 'So we made it into one or two pillows.'" Muslim's narration states: "And I stuffed them with palm fiber, and he did not object to that." A group of scholars, however, are of the view that there is no difference between images on items treated with disdain and others, and adopting this opinion is more cautious.
