Is my action of leaving my friend, out of fear of becoming like her after she changed for the worse, right or wrong?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

If someone finds another person committing a sin, they should advise them and instill fear of Allah in them. If the person does not respond and the advisor has authority over them, they should prevent them, even by force. However, if they do not have authority, and they despair of the person's responsiveness, then they should abandon them. But if they hope for the person's responsiveness, they should not abandon them and should continue to advise them, provided that they do not agree with their wrongdoing or accompany them while the evil is being committed, and are secure from temptation. Otherwise, abandonment becomes obligatory.
