What is the solution for dealing with a close friend who betrayed trust and ignored advice, leading to feelings of disappointment and hatred towards her?
Those whose company should be sought are the pious and righteous. As for the people of evil, they pose various dangers. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, warned against them by saying: "The example of a good companion and a bad companion is like that of the perfumer and the blacksmith. The perfumer will either give you some perfume, or you will buy some from him, or you will notice a good smell from him. As for the blacksmith, he will either burn your clothes, or you will smell a bad odor from him." And he also said: "A person is on the religion of his intimate friend, so let each of you look at whom he befriends." Moreover, on the Day of Resurrection, "Friends on that Day will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous."
Therefore, you should advise your friend to stay away from what Allah has forbidden and to repent, and strive to convince her. If she does not respond, then seek out righteous friends who will help you in obedience. This does not mean boycotting her, unless abandonment serves as a deterrent for her from sin.
