It is known in that it is obligatory to honor one's parents and treat them kindly, and forbidden to disobey them or treat them poorly. Disobeying parents is one of the greatest major sins. Major sins are not effaced by good deeds; rather, they are effaced by sincere repentance. The conditions for sincere repentance are abandoning the sin, feeling remorse, and resolving not to return to it.
