How does one learn the science of Hadith terminology (ʿIlm Muṣṭalaḥ al-Ḥadīth)?

The science of Mustalah al-Hadith, like other Islamic sciences, requires learning from a proficient scholar. It is not sufficient to merely read books on the subject, as this can lead to errors. One must progress gradually in learning it, starting with abridged works like Nukhbat al-Fikar, then intermediate texts such as Al-Ba'ith al-Hathith, and finally advanced works like Tadrib al-Rawi.
