What is the ruling on naming a Muslim male newborn "Malik"?

It is permissible to name a servant with common names that are applied to Allah Almighty and to the created, such as "Malik" (Owner/King), because it signifies ownership, and it is an encompassing attribute like greatness (al-Aẓam), exaltedness (al-Uluw), and grandeur (al-Kibr). This description has been used in the Holy Qur'an for Allah Almighty and for the created, and the difference between the two descriptions is like the difference between the essence of the Creator and the created. It is preferable to add the word "Abd" (servant of) before it, such as "Abd al-Malik."
