Is the end of the illness to be presumed, or only its improvement, each time the sick person supplicates? And should the assistant stop helping him with his ablution each time he supplicates, and not take his doubt into consideration, as long as this matter consumes time and reduces his supplications and the performance of his missed prayers?

A person afflicted with waswas (obsessive whispering/doubts) must ignore them and not pay them any mind. If Satan deludes him into thinking he has not washed a limb, he should turn away from the waswas. He should only repeat the washing if he achieves certain, firm conviction, upon which he could swear, that he omitted washing an obligatory part. He should also strive in supplication for Allah to remove the waswas from him and help him get rid of them.
